At the end of April 2025, this beautiful, battered butterfly entered my terrace with a broken wing. It landed on the wire mesh, unaware that its refuge was also its prison. It tried to escape, fluttering upward, testing the left corner, going down and up again, fragile and exhausted. For a moment, I imagined the battle that left it so wounded. Then, gently, I guided it toward the open door and set it free, but not before taking several photos. After all, Freedom is Not Free.

” Freedom Is Not Free is a striking visual meditation on sacrifice and the cost of liberty. Captured with an artist’s eye, this photograph centers on a somber tribute to freedom.
